Welcome

Hello, I'm Tom McNair. I Play Guitar, Saxophone and I sing and beatbox and I mix them all together using a loop pedal. I record the loops LIVE on stage and create the sound of a full band. Mainly beautiful Reggae and Blues but also upbeat Funk and Dance grooves. I'm Currently touring the UK promoting my
latest album "Song For Light Warriors" which has a strong "Acoustic Blues" influence with flavours of Reggae and the "singer songwriter" kind of genre. I worked hard to keep the feel of this album very organic and intimate.
I'm following my dream of being an independent musician, Writing and recording music inspired by my experiences. Also important to me is the lifestyle that I have achieved with this endeavour of music. I spend a lot of time with my wife and children and we live in an old library van. The humble abode means that we don't need loads of money to sustain ourselves and that is why I get to spend lots of time with my family and why I am so blooming happy so much of the time. The poignant part of this to me is that the money part is a TRAP that can require loads of work or commitment or selling your soul (doing it just for the money) just to stay in the trap. where as lower outgoings require less of these so I can WORK with my kids on their ABC's (and mine) and commit to doing things that I want to do and facilitating things that my family want to do and I don't sell my soul in the process.

This website is not just here to promote my music. there is a Forum here for conversation about positively changing society or maybe creating a space in society where people who dream of living a simple life close to the land and each other can do so - opting out of the rat race and the strenuous taxation which is placed on our time and money.

We can learn how to create useful things and trade with each other cultivate land and grow food. Love real life. and live in communities together. To me, working at a job that just provides money to buy food and pay for a roof over your head is a distant cousin of real life. I would like to get closer to actually living.

   You can
become a member
of this website and contribute to this conversation - I'm not an expert, I just have a dream and would like to make friends with other dreamers and experts and anyone who wants to JOIN IN.

Like most, you stopped me in my tracks when I heard you play!! I too had to buy your CD. I surrendered to your music in both good times and challenging ones! Thanks a million. Someone has 'borrowed' my CD - how can I get another without travelling back to the UK??? Much love to you and your family, you are truly living a fabulous life.

Just read all of your website. I truly admire your way of life and appreciate your values. I prefer a bit more of the modern comforts so do have to 'sell my soul' a bit to earn the money required to support that. Still, agree that family (and closest friends) is THE most important thing in life and lots of material possessions are unimportant. You are an incredibly talented musician and you are correct that you are better at producing your own work than doing covers of other people's. It is great that your music supports your family in the way of life you have chosen. I would wish that you could become a major artist and earn millions - but I accept that this is not your ambition.

A colleague at work just showed me you on YouTube, after 15 minutes of going through songs I can officially say I AM A FAAAAAN! I'm also an artist, you and your music have been the inspiration, the breath of life I've been needing as I've been feeling 'starved of creativity' due to 9-5 life. Tried to sign up to the mailing list and it wasn't working :( have to hear, see and know more! We need more artist's like you that resonate truth, integrity, soul, and passion for what they do, not for what doors it will open, but the hearts it will touch. What you have cultivated through your own spirit and being is your calling and a healing to my ears and the rest of the world. Thank you Please add me to the mailing list and I have to come to see you live! Emma Carryl e.carryl@me.com Peace & blessings!!!!

Tom,Myself and my wife saw your performing outside the Roman Baths in Bath back in 2013 whilst travelling on a European trip.As we were standing in the queue your voice and rootsy sound did captivate me. I had to buy the CD and have played it a number of times overs the years since.Had it on today in a quiet spell at my work and just felt I needed to look up your website and see how your are going.Stick to your principles and happy to see all is well and your music still soothes the soul.

Tom, saw you in Winchester today playing Love Like Fire and you stopped me in my tracks. I made my 11 yr old son listen to you (he's becoming an accomplished drummer). I said to him, listen the music is coming through that guy, this is really rare, this is very special. I had to buy your CD and look you up. Now I have found your website it all makes perfect sense. For 8 years we travelled the oceans on a sailboat, home schooling our kids (who came along on route) and living the simplest and happiest life imaginable. My wife went on to write "Sail Away - how to escape the rat race" www.sailawaybook.com. Your music INSTANTLY took me back to that magical place of freedom and connection with the world, that sadly so many of us never experience. Thank you for making my day. I shall enjoy your CD and when we set off again one day in the future, it will be coming with me.

Saw you in Hightown today and, too, was captivated by your sound. Last time I heard anything that exciting and unique was at a John Martyn gig in the 70s. Had to buy the cd!

Stopped and got lost in another world for a while in awe and loved your material. I’ve been caught up in the ‘rat race’ which has left me penniless.. literally right now which is why I couldn’t leave anything in your guitar case, but wanted you to know how you were able to help put fear and concern away from my mind whilst listening. Also so inspired to hear your break away from the rat race and the fulfilness and great wealth you have by breaking away from what really is insanity that I and most people are caught up in!!! Keep it up and hope to see and listen to you again soon.
