Welcome

Hello, I'm Tom McNair. I Play Guitar, Saxophone and I sing and beatbox and I mix them all together using a loop pedal. I record the loops LIVE on stage and create the sound of a full band. Mainly beautiful Reggae and Blues but also upbeat Funk and Dance grooves. I'm Currently touring the UK promoting my
latest album "Song For Light Warriors" which has a strong "Acoustic Blues" influence with flavours of Reggae and the "singer songwriter" kind of genre. I worked hard to keep the feel of this album very organic and intimate.
I'm following my dream of being an independent musician, Writing and recording music inspired by my experiences. Also important to me is the lifestyle that I have achieved with this endeavour of music. I spend a lot of time with my wife and children and we live in an old library van. The humble abode means that we don't need loads of money to sustain ourselves and that is why I get to spend lots of time with my family and why I am so blooming happy so much of the time. The poignant part of this to me is that the money part is a TRAP that can require loads of work or commitment or selling your soul (doing it just for the money) just to stay in the trap. where as lower outgoings require less of these so I can WORK with my kids on their ABC's (and mine) and commit to doing things that I want to do and facilitating things that my family want to do and I don't sell my soul in the process.

i do it in the street!!!

-----WHY??-----

This website is not just here to promote my music. there is a Forum here for conversation about positively changing society or maybe creating a space in society where people who dream of living a simple life close to the land and each other can do so - opting out of the rat race and the strenuous taxation which is placed on our time and money.

We can learn how to create useful things and trade with each other cultivate land and grow food. Love real life. and live in communities together. To me, working at a job that just provides money to buy food and pay for a roof over your head is a distant cousin of real life. I would like to get closer to actually living.

You were in Cheltenham about a week or so ago and played just outside where I work, and in less than 1 song I knew I loved the sound and bought your CD (which is permanently in my car and all I listen to). You came back today and I meant to come say hi and let you know how much I have been enjoying your music but didn't get a chance. After reading a bit on your website, your philosophy really resonates with me and it's my goal to get to place like you where I can live closer to the land with my partner and my dog, and am just working on my path to get there. I'm glad it's working out so well for you, and it gives me hope that in the future I can be living my dream too. Thank you for the beautiful and inspiring music - keep it up!

April 2018, I'm pretty sure it was the 24th. The sun was shining, it was a gorgeous day. Strolling down the high street I spot this guy busking, he was a cool guy of middle age with wonderful long curly hair, instantly I wanted to know what kind of music he played. 'Loopy Tom' written on his amp box. I was intrigued. Tom started off beatboxing into his microphone, looped it, then started gently plucking at his acoustic guitar. The sounds were dreamy. Once he had got a loop for the acoustic he walked over to his double bass, or acoustic bass (sorry I'm not sharp on my instruments). Then created this deep sound which he looped again all using a pedal system, finally he introduced a tenor sax I'm pretty sure, the sounds that had had gracefully come together were beginning to make a beautiful track. I stand there in the middle of the busy High street captivated by this wonder-busker, I stand motionless at first only my foot tapping uncontrollably away as my eyes gaze upon this true musician. I'm stood alone while hundreds if not thousands of busy shoppers go by. I couldn't understand why more people hadn't stopped to observe this obvious talent. By the time he had finished creating the beat I had already noticed a stand in which he was selling his CDs, I swiftly drew a £10 note from my rucksack and held it up to the musician and slipped it between the back CDs, I gathered my copy put it into my bag all while this guy continued to bless my ears. A few minutes had past by now and the beat, melodies, Instruments were all coming together, I was hoping he was going to start singing and my dream came true. He was so passionate about what he was doing, I was CAPTIVATED. He started singing, a raspy deep calming voice, it was tremendous, by this point my whole body is jigging to this incredible one man band. Then the chorus came in, it went something like this; "Won't you make it right, oh make it right for me, won't you make it right oh make it right for me". This resonated with my soul, so relevant to my current situation. I'm in the process of 'making things right'. So Loopy Tom I thank you, you connected with my spirit that day. KEEP SPREADING THE LOVE BROTHER. P.s I'd love to learn to play the guitar please contact me via my email if u can with any advice for me, many many thanks, David Goff clydegoffy@gmail.com

So nice to listen and see you in Worchester on Sunday. Your musical arrangement and voice dragged me back to buy the CD. I wish you success.

I heard you play today in Worcester, My soul was replenished. You reminded me of a verse, “The lover that was lost in winter, was found blooming everywhere in the spring.” Thank you for your passion, anyone who was open would hear their heart being strummed. Powerful essence!

I was captivated when I heard Tom in Worcester a few weeks ago. So rare to hear such wonderful musicianship. I bought the album and have not stopped playing it yet, gives real deep musical feeling that really touches the soul and the voice entrances you. Absolutely Brilliant!!! Will definitely buy another album.

A few weeks ago I was listening to Tom in Worcester. I had been following my wife around the shops and when it was the turn of Debenhams I waited outside and listened to Tom for a little while and was fully immersed in the sound and soul of Tom's music, voice and playing. Yesterday we were at the shops again on the usual tour but this time when we got to Debenhams My wife told me that she would 'be a little while'! 'No problem' I said cheerfully 'take your time', and perched myself outside and again listened to Tom for 25 minutes...wonder full! I bought the CD and have looped it 4/5 times in the last 24 hours and love it- Mellow, soulful, beautifully played/song, great lyrics and individual. I will be looking out for more. BTW played the CD in the car on the drive home and my wife loved it too! Happy days and a good reason for going to the shops (maybe)!
