Welcome

Hello, I'm Tom McNair. I Play Guitar, Saxophone and I sing and beatbox and I mix them all together using a loop pedal. I record the loops LIVE on stage and create the sound of a full band. Mainly beautiful Reggae and Blues but also upbeat Funk and Dance grooves. I'm Currently touring the UK promoting my
latest album "Song For Light Warriors" which has a strong "Acoustic Blues" influence with flavours of Reggae and the "singer songwriter" kind of genre. I worked hard to keep the feel of this album very organic and intimate.
I'm following my dream of being an independent musician, Writing and recording music inspired by my experiences. Also important to me is the lifestyle that I have achieved with this endeavour of music. I spend a lot of time with my wife and children and we live in an old library van. The humble abode means that we don't need loads of money to sustain ourselves and that is why I get to spend lots of time with my family and why I am so blooming happy so much of the time. The poignant part of this to me is that the money part is a TRAP that can require loads of work or commitment or selling your soul (doing it just for the money) just to stay in the trap. where as lower outgoings require less of these so I can WORK with my kids on their ABC's (and mine) and commit to doing things that I want to do and facilitating things that my family want to do and I don't sell my soul in the process.

i do it in the street!!!

This website is not just here to promote my music. there is a Forum here for conversation about positively changing society or maybe creating a space in society where people who dream of living a simple life close to the land and each other can do so - opting out of the rat race and the strenuous taxation which is placed on our time and money.

We can learn how to create useful things and trade with each other cultivate land and grow food. Love real life. and live in communities together. To me, working at a job that just provides money to buy food and pay for a roof over your head is a distant cousin of real life. I would like to get closer to actually living.

I went to Bath on a whim and guess what within 75 yards of the bus station I heard beautiful music. I turned to my wife and said that's Tom McNair who I had met sometime ago in Bath too. I can tell Tom McNair's music from any of the wonderful buskers I have heard in an instant as he is so good for the soul and the heart. Life improves when Tom sings for/to you. So Tender, So Real, so Wonderful. I cannot say how wonderful he is without reminding myself of a program about Roy Orbison when I heard Bill Wyman, very late of the Rolling Stones, when I allege he said so unconvincingly that he had bought all of Roy's records in Roy's day. Well, I bought all of Tom's records in his day, that should last forever. I say I believe convincingly, as I know it is true. Well here they are: - A Single Red Rose, Criminal Justice, The Love Songs (Straight Saxophone) & Song For Light Warriors and guess what they were all fabulous, are all fabulous and will be all fabulous forever. I am nearly 70 and spending my retirement listening to Tom. It has been like heaven reincarnated. I must have been there before. It was so idyllic. Tom's music was being played non-stop to all the eager recipients. As you can gather I like his music.

I Heard you play this afternoon and I was taken by your BEAUTIFUL guitar playing and your soulful voice. I found the whole experience quite mesmerising and just what I needed at that moment in time. I was quite literally stopped in my tracks whilst you sang. Sadly I only heard the one song and when I came over to buy your CD you were gone. I hope you return to play again and I admire the way you choose to live. Your children are blessed to have you as their Father.

Hi Tom - heard you playing in Hereford today. I'd had a seriously stressful morning and, hey presto, you destressed me with your fabulous music. I'll be downloading your CD in a minute and can't wait to listen to it. Why have I never heard of you before??
