Welcome

Hello, I'm Tom McNair. I Play Guitar, Saxophone and I sing and beatbox and I mix them all together using a loop pedal. I record the loops LIVE on stage and create the sound of a full band. Mainly beautiful Reggae and Blues but also upbeat Funk and Dance grooves. I'm Currently touring the UK promoting my
latest album "Song For Light Warriors" which has a strong "Acoustic Blues" influence with flavours of Reggae and the "singer songwriter" kind of genre. I worked hard to keep the feel of this album very organic and intimate.
I'm following my dream of being an independent musician, Writing and recording music inspired by my experiences. Also important to me is the lifestyle that I have achieved with this endeavour of music. I spend a lot of time with my wife and children and we live in an old library van. The humble abode means that we don't need loads of money to sustain ourselves and that is why I get to spend lots of time with my family and why I am so blooming happy so much of the time. The poignant part of this to me is that the money part is a TRAP that can require loads of work or commitment or selling your soul (doing it just for the money) just to stay in the trap. where as lower outgoings require less of these so I can WORK with my kids on their ABC's (and mine) and commit to doing things that I want to do and facilitating things that my family want to do and I don't sell my soul in the process.

This website is not just here to promote my music. there is a Forum here for conversation about positively changing society or maybe creating a space in society where people who dream of living a simple life close to the land and each other can do so - opting out of the rat race and the strenuous taxation which is placed on our time and money.

We can learn how to create useful things and trade with each other cultivate land and grow food. Love real life. and live in communities together. To me, working at a job that just provides money to buy food and pay for a roof over your head is a distant cousin of real life. I would like to get closer to actually living.

I heard you in Bath this afternoon - and watched with my daughter while a beautiful Chinese girl danced unencumbered to your music. It was a special moment. I would have loved to have had my sax with me! Thanks Tom.

Dear Tom Like several people on your forum, I heard you playing on a dreary day in Cheltenham recently, and your beautiful music stopped me in my tracks. What amazing talent and musicality you have!! Bought your CD to give to my partner for Christmas, thinking to surprise him.....only to find that he had already heard you a while back, and has been waiting for you to return to Cheltenham ever since. Thought you might like to know that our sheepdog Rosie has also been completely entranced with your music - your CD has been our Christmas soundtrack. Have also really enjoyed watching your video and seeing how you work. Please let us know when you are next in Cheltenham so that we can come and hear you again. All warmest wishes for a happy, peaceful and inspiring 2016 for you and your family - and thank you so much for giving us such pleasure with your music, Melanie

Heard you from a distance in Bath this afternoon, forgot about my shopping and was drawn towards the music wondering why the sound was so familiar and distinctive. Realised it was because I already own 'Song for Light Warriors' from when you performed as Tom McNair, so the shopping got abandoned whilst I listened to you for about 15 mins. Not having much cash on me I had to dash to the nearest cashpoint so I could 'donate' £10 for 'Love Like Fire'. Played it in the car on the drive back and now it's on repeat at home. Love your music - don't stop creating your beautiful songs. Do you have a list of tour dates?

Hi Tom, Spent a few days in Bath last week and came across you playing .......I didn't go up to you just listened and then bought your CD...loved your songs and particularly your vocal.....very unique and touching... I am no expert just a music fan but really think you have an exceptional talent that deserves a wider audience. I am Irish and feel you could get a break here as broadly speaking there is a "gra" for signer /song writers. Irish guys Ryan Sheridan got their break from busking.... never sent messages like this before but felt you were worth it ..best of luck and for my part I have started spreading the word!!

Hiya, Just saw you in the street and enjoyed the music. Bought a CD to offer some support and obviously for my own future enjoyment! Love the website and the sentiment. Good luck my musical friend and may it take you where you want it to.

Hi, I'm often in town and am drawn to your music each time. I am a lover of real good music and feel lucky to have your music to enhance the Bath vibe. I have both of your CDs and have nearly worn them both out! Love it-Thanks.
